Classes

I am thrilled to announce that I am starting up my cooking classes again.  What was once in my kitchen in the “black house” in Seattle, will now be in the kitchen of a dear friend’s house in my neighborhood in Oakland (Upper Rockridge area).  I have missed teaching very much since our move to the East Bay last summer and I could not be more excited to start again.

What can you expect from a class with me?  A seat in a lovely home, a glass of wine (or three) poured for you, and three hours of tips, pointers, and menu ideas.  Along the way, you will get not just tastes of the dishes made, but real portions of at least five different things, culminating in a seat at the dining room table with the other guests to enjoy the meal.  You will go home with a recipe packet and a special treat.

Want to join us?  In December, I will be teaching a Tarts and Galettes class.  I can’t tell you how many people have told me they are afraid of working with pie/tart/galette dough over the years.  I hope to help you overcome that fear!  First we will learn to make a pie that has the easiest crust in the world – breadcrumbs!  Then we will learn to make a super versatile dough that you can use for pies, tarts, and galettes.  You will even make your own galette!

Broccoli and Red Pepper Crustless Quiche
Wild Mushroom Tart with Gruyère
Roasted Pear Galette with Chèvre and Pomegranates
Apple Crumb Galettes
Sliced Kale and Radicchio Salad with Parmesan and Pine Nuts

Wednesday, December 4th 6:30-9:30pm  $85
Thursday, December 12th 6:30-9:30pm  $85
