About Me

Thank you for visiting my site. Yes, my first name is Dana. No, my last name is not Treat. I’ll explain in a moment.

Like most food bloggers, I am one of those people who has always loved food. My mom started giving me “table food” when I was 9 months old and I have never looked back. I was not picky as as child, but meat was never that appealing to me. I always liked the side dishes better. When I was 16 years old, I decided to make a change in my diet and cut out all meat and poultry. At 20, I gave up fish. It’s now been 21 years since I have eaten something with a face and I find my diet to be incredibly rich, interesting, and satisfying. And, aside from a few french fries here and there, healthy. Not to worry, I will never climb on a vegetarian soap box here – my own husband eats meat – I just want to share my love of good vegetarian food. And baked goods.

In late summer 2012, my little family and I left our beloved Seattle for new adventures in the Bay Area.  We settled in the Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland and are loving the sunshine and incredible bounty of food, both in new-to-us restaurants and farmers’ markets that can seem more like outdoor grocery stores (incredible variety and selection!) than markets.  I have two boys, ages 8 and 6 and there are plenty of stories about them here too.

Thank you for stopping by.
