Apron Giveaway

December 7, 2010

Friends, I am beyond excited.  The response to my cooking class announcement has been nothing short of extraordinary.  Both the January and the February classes are full.  I have enough requests to add another date to both January and February.  The content and the recipes will be the same.  You can check out the dates here.

So, how about a giveaway to convey my appreciation?

I have to admit, I am not an apron wearer.  I should be because I certainly make enough of a mess when I cook and bake.  My mom puts on an apron if she is putting a single dish in the dishwasher while I will cook an entire dinner without one.  Time to put a stop to the dry cleaning bills and wear something this adorable, don’t you think?

Anna makes these adorable aprons and sells them on her Esty site.  Don’t you want one?  Or a bag like this one?  If you want to be in the running for the apron pictured above, leave me a comment and tell me which camp you fall into – apron wearing or not.  It will not affect your chances of winning if you say you are not.  :)  Deadline for entry is Friday, December 10th at noon PST.

UPDATE: Contest is closed!  Winner will be announced Monday.

Thank you all again and send me an email if you want to attend a class.

  1. Aprons all the way. The opportunity to combine fashion + food is a beautiful thing.

  2. I wear an apron but it is not like the one my Grandma had. I wish I had that one. I do also wear a chef hat. Mostly to keep the hair away from everything. I have several aprons, with lots of color. Because I am built lower to the ground I have to adjust aprons. I never had to adjust my Grandma’s apron though. She was sorter than I am. I am also getting just a bit shorter as I age. So you think having a kidney transplant made a difference?

  4. I’m historically NOT an apron wearer but I have recently begun to wear one. It’s a red fish pattern from Pike Place market so it reminds me of my history in Seattle and gives me the pleasure of wearing red. I’d wear this one. Or I would let my 2 year old daughter wear it. I know she would love it and prance around joyously in it.

  5. I’m definitely an apron wearer, not because I truly care about getting gunk on my clothes, but because it makes me feel like a true baker. I don’t really know why, but it does, and I love that feeling, especially when what I make turns out brilliant. :)

  6. I have asked my hubby/kids for an apron every x-mas and never received one. so count me in the camp of not wearing one, but wishing I was

  7. I wear an apron when I am doing things like “Baking the Thanksgiving Pie!” and “Making the Christmas Cookies!” If it’s not some banner event like that, I usually go without. But this cute little number might inspire me to make everyday events apron-worthy (i.e. “Boiling the Pasta Yet Again!”).

  8. I’m not sure which camp I fall into… I have every intention of wearing an apron but then I start cooking and I forget entirely. On the flip side when I do remember to wear an apron, I forget to take it off and wear it through the whole dinner!

  10. I love the apron! I wear an apron about 25% of the time, but it’s because the one I have is ugly and masculine. I would wear that one all the time! Hope to make one of your classes, they all sound great!

  11. If I wear an apron, it means there is some serious cooking going on! Whether it is Sunday cooking to stock the fridge for the week or a we’re-having-guests-over dinner, the apron means business. it doesn’t come out for reheats or short order cooking… It’s a sign that I am about to really enjoy what comes next.

  12. Congrats on your classes! I am not an apron-wearer, but I have been pining for a cute one for months… ;)

  14. Currently I am not an apron wearer, but I’m sure my clothes would appreciate it if I started, and this one is too cute!

  15. I want to be an apron-wearer, but I don’t always remember to get it out before the flour starts flying. Anna’s look adorable!

  17. I love my aprons, and I wear one almost every time I cook!

  18. I’m an apron wearer – not if I’m just grabbing something to eat but when I get into the kitchen for some sort of cooking project, then it feels like part of settling in

  19. I am thrilled to be pregnant for the first time (a girl!) and spend a great deal of time in the kitchen. However, I’m still adjusting to my ever expanding belly and find that by the time I am through cooking or baking, my shirt is usually covered in food from rubbing against countertops, bowls, etc. As silly as I might end up looking, I would love to tie this apron just above my belly to stay clean! By the way, your pumpkin bread recipe is to die for!

  20. I aspire to follow in my Grandma’s footsteps and my Mom’s
who I remember as never without their aprons in the kitchen.
Yes, apron and pearls. If I am lucky enough to win this apron
I vow to wear it with pearls.

  21. I tend to wear an apron to protect the food I am wearing, rather than the other way around. Two of our rescue animals need frequent “nursing” and there is not always time to change shirts before prepping dinner.

  22. First of all I am very excited to be coming to your cooking class. I am not an apron wearer, my husband is better than I at that. But I think I should start wearing one and this one is very cute.

  23. I am one of those people that can cook a whole meal without ever putting on an apron. I do find that on special holidays, when I am in the kitchen all day, I will put an apron on. It is festive and makes me feel like I am really celebrating the joy of being in the kitchen. I love this apron and I am excited to enter to win it!

    Thanks!
